Kung Fû (sincerity) intimates that (with the sincerity which it implies) there will be good fortune. And thus there will be advantage in determining (to be firm and correct). There will be advantage in crossing the great stream. There will be advantage in the maintenance of firm correctness.
The first NINE, undivided, shows its subject ready to wait (the operation of the natural law). There will be good fortune.
The second NINE, undivided, shows its subject (like) a crane crying in its sheltered resting-place, and its young ones responding to it. I have a good cup (of spirits), and will share it with you, my genial associate.
The third SIX, divided, shows its subject now finding his mate, and now losing her. (The position is) perilous. If he firmly maintain his correctness, there will be no error.
The fourth SIX, divided, shows its subject (like a moon) nearly full, and (like) the horses in a chariot which have broken their traces. There will be no error.
The fifth NINE, undivided, shows the subject of the line possessed of sincerity, and linking others to him in the closest bond. There will be no error.
