Keeping Still (Mountain)

Kăn (the trigram representing the mountain) intimates that when it is time to stop, then stop; and when it is time to proceed, then proceed. His movements are uniform, and his stops in their proper place. His resting quietly in his proper place will give rest to all under heaven. The first SIX, divided, shows its subject stopping his toes. There will be no error; but it will be advantageous for him to be firmly correct. The second SIX, divided, shows its subject stopping his calves. He cannot save his more immediate object, and his heart is not happy. The third NINE, undivided, shows its subject stopping his waist. He will be injured in the muscles (of the back) which connect the ribs with the backbone. The position is perilous. The fourth SIX, divided, shows its subject stopping his whole person. There will be no error. The fifth SIX, divided, shows its subject stopping his jawbones, so that his words are all in their proper place. Occasion for repentance will disappear. The topmost NINE, undivided, shows its subject magnanimously resting in his position, and thence giving effect to his measures. There will be good fortune.
