Sun intimates that in the state (which it describes) there will be progress and success. The advantage will be found in firm correctness, and there must not be any movement in a wrong direction. (The subject of the hexagram) may hold fast (to his proper course). There will be advantage in every way.
The first NINE, undivided, shows its subject suspending his own affairs, and carrying out the affairs of others. There will be no error. The second NINE, undivided, shows that it will be advantageous for (the subject of the line) in all that he attempts, and that there will be no error. (But he must) impose a loss on himself, and not allow others to impose it on him.
The third SIX, divided, shows three people walking together, and then one will be diminished. When one is walking with two others, he will find himself alone.
The fourth SIX, divided, shows (its subject) keeping his mistakes to himself, and increasing the number of others (about him). The position is one of peril. He should not move in any direction (from where he is). If he do this, there will be good fortune.
The fifth SIX, divided, shows (its subject) adding to his possessions, (not by his own efforts, but) from the gifts of others. There will be great good fortune. (Its subject will) receive the good wishes of all the people.
The topmost NINE, undivided, shows that advantage will be found in not remaining at rest. Advantage will be found in diminishing the feeling of injury (and being ready to help others). © 2026 I-Ching Divination. All rights reserved.
