Influence

Hsien indicates that (on the fulfilment of the conditions implied in it) there will be progress and success. The advantage will come from the firm and correct course (of action). (If the movement be dynamic), there will be good fortune. The first SIX, divided, shows the influence (at work) on the great toes. The second SIX, divided, shows the influence on the calves of the legs. There will be evil. If he abide (in his place), there will be good fortune. The third NINE, undivided, shows the influence on the thighs. It seizes the strong (in its subject), and holds him fast. To go forward will be perilous. (If he move at all), he will be exposed to regret. The fourth NINE, undivided, shows that firm correctness will lead to good fortune, and prevent all occasion for repentance. If there be a movement (to effect it), the influence will not be found to have been at work. The fifth NINE, undivided, shows the influence on the back of the neck. There will be no occasion for repentance. The topmost SIX, divided, shows the influence on the jaws, cheeks, and tongue.
